Works well. Not too soft, but not too hard either. Produces a good shower of hot sparks with either the included striker or the back of my bushcraft knife.

To those that have purchased this item congratulations!, this is probably one of the most important tools that you can own. For the avid outdoorsman like myself these are life savers. For the people that are pondering whether or not to buy one, there is nothing to ponder itâs a must have. Most people donât realize how important these are. My father bought me one of the very first original models over 30 years ago at a hunting and fishing show. I got lost at 13 years old, over 30 years ago, and had to spend one night in the wild with a friend on a walking fishing trip along a riverside, which seemed like a eternity. Having this tool on me allowed me to quickly gather kindling and wood and start a fire for the night to keep us warm and to keep the wild animals away. Being stuck in the wild at 13 is not easy. We were able to wait until daylight and eventually find our way back with my friend. This was way before the time of cell phones. These tools are worth their weight in gold. Many thanks to the seller for supplying a great product. I highly recommend and I will definitely order more now that I had a chance to try it out and start a mini fire with some dry stuff. Excellent product!
