Godsend in current heatwave
We live in a modern flat in London with triple glazed windows. Great for during Winter and we’ve never had to pay for heating. However, on warmer days the flat retains all heat and ends up hotter than outside with no air flow. Currently with the heatwave the temperature has been over 30 degrees and we’ve been melting in the flat, unable to sleep during the hot nights. We decided we’d had enough and would invest in a portable air conditioner. We did our research and decided to go with Meaco. Very reasonably priced when you start comparing with others on the market. Also, on the smaller and lighter side when comparing to other units which can be around/over 30kgs. This unit is 23kgs and on wheels so it’s easy to push around. We’ve been moving it from bedroom to living room depending on where we want the AC running. With Amazon the unit arrived in 2 days! Amazing. So easy to set up. We didn’t have to read any instructions and had it set up in minutes. It immediately starts to cool the room down. Unexpectedly came with a free window kit compatible with our windows which open inwards. These cost about 20 pounds on Amazon so saved us that additional cost. But in all honesty we were so keen to get started we used the AC without the window seal and it still works fantastically to cool down our bedroom. If you can’t be bothered with the faff of the window seal kit don’t worry as it still works well! I know some have mentioned that the unit is noisy but all I can say to that is what do you expect from an AC unit. It’s going to of course make some noise. We haven’t found this to be a problem and we easily can fall asleep to it.My boyfriend and I are ecstatic with our purchase. The rest of the UK will be sweltering over the next week and we’ll be relaxing calmly in the cool provided by Maeco.10/10 would recommend.

Great Air Conditioner, but be aware not quiet at all
This is a great quality product. Love the design. Has a nice app, which lacks features though (like easy to setup ordinary timer which countdown with nice illustrative graphic arch, or dark mode for example). Pairing should be also simpler (doesn’t work without Bluetooth on) but otherwise works well and is useful as a remote control (but can’t used all the features fully yet). Dehumidifier works well as well if the room temperature is above 15C. The only thing I want to warn potential buyers about is that indoor air cons are loud (between 54-65dB) so cannot be advertised as whisper quiet. I don’t think people can watch TV next to this aircon (unless you put sound very high or use a noise cancelling headset) or sleep peacefully. But, for example you can put it in adjacent room or in a corridor and then it’s fine. So just bear that in mind. Quiet would be below 40dB and no indoor aircon can do that at this time AFAIK. Also the sleep mode doesn’t lower the fan speed – it’s the low speed, but to loud. One improvement I would suggest would be to have 3rd “slow/quiet” fan speed. At the moment the 2 fan speeds are just too powerful. Even the slow fan speed is just too powerful. Alternatively, free noise cancelling headphones could be packed with the unit? 😉 Also it’s heavy, but once at home, who cares it’s on wheels.

Air conditioning unit
Exactly what I was looking for and cooled the room down very quickly. The only downside is the unwieldy vent hose. The best way to use the unit would be to have it venting through a fixed wall outlet having the vent hose as short as possible.

Itâs powerful and efficient
Meaco make the best equipment! Itâs top quality and it works. It easily cools the space I need. It is very loud! I would not use it in a room I was sitting in even in the quieter of the two modes. I knew all this before buying it.

Cools well, but far noisier than the claimed spec
It cools a room very well, when vented to the outdoors properly. Better than can be expected in fact, works even in a 28 sqm room (took more than an hour to bring down the room temperature by 1 degree Celsius, but even before that there was a sizable cool spot). The huge downside is that the noise levels are grossly mis-stated. Meaco claims “Noise levels from 52dB” but in cooling mode, at the low setting, I measured 59 dBA at 1 meter distance, and 62 dBA on the high setting. This with a calibrated noise level meter. It may be possible to get the spec’ed noise level if you only used the fan.. but I suspect most people who want just a fan would buy something at 1/5 the cost of this air conditioner.

This is going to be so welcome in the hotter weather
We purchased this as we have a Meaco Zambezi dehumidifier which I rate very highly. I’m going to vent this via our air vent in the lounge ,which is for venting our front room because we have a log burner. I purchased a reducer collar so that should work well.Yes, it’s slightly noisy but it’s better than some. I don’y think you’ll get a silent one owing to the fan and the compressor functions in an air conditioner. This moves a lot of air though, even the fan settings push out a very noticeable air flow into the room. We had a cooling fan system last year but I don’t like the idea of damp air being circulated onto furniture and walls etc. Also with water air coolers they only get to a certain point where they can’t actually cool the air anymore they just add to the humidity. The build of this Meaco air conditioner is very good and the functions work well on it. Now bring on the hot weather outside !!! 🙂

So far so good
The good – is pretty good at cooling down a room. Use it in the bedroom in the evening. The bad – it’s heavy and noisy. The hand hold insets are poor which makes carrying it up and down stairs a chore. Don’t bank on sleeping when it’s switched on or even watching television. The vent is a pain and I am sure that it will puncture at some point and need replacing.I usually hang the vent out of window which seems to work.Haven’t tried the heating or dehumidifying functions yet. Not bothered with the network function either as it’s not really essential.Still it’s good piece of kit. Let’s see how long it lasts.
