A dice-rolling maths adventure

Roll the dice to start this addition and subtraction adventure! Players move over the crocodile shortcut and through the endless loop to try and be the one to finish first.

Build maths fluency skills

This board game is an ideal way to practise addition and subtraction, and maths fluency skills! Through exciting dice-rolling game play, children are encouraged to add and subtract using the numbers 1-6.

Watch out!

The journey through the Sum Swamp can be tricky! You might discover the crocodile’s shortcut, but be careful not to get caught in the endless loop!

How to Play

Choose a colourful game piece and place it on ‘Start’. Roll a number die, the player with the highest number goes first.

Players roll all three dice and create a number sentence by placing the highest number die first, followed by the operation die and then the smallest number die.

Players must then successfully solve in their number sentence to determine the amount of spaces they move. For example 3+2 = move ahead 5 spaces.

The first player to reach the finish line is the winner! Players do not need to roll the exact number to arrive at the finishing point.

  1. Just Jess

Fun game to build maths mastery
This is a lovely simple game which really appeals to our 5yo. She loves the little animal game pieces, and we love the fact that we’re helping her gain confidence with maths as we play. She’s been really anxious about maths lessons at school, but this game lightened the mood a lot and she keeps asking to play. Definite win.

  2. L

    Fun & educational
This was purchased as a gift for a four year old who has enjoyed playing it with their five year old sibling which has helped to further develop their number skills.

  3. YummyMummy

    A huge hit! 🎯
This game is a huge hit in my household. Bought for my 6 year old as a way to help her build maths facts fluency and I’m pleased I purchased it. She loves playing it, and often.I love games that are both educational and fun because they hardly know they’re learning. My 11 year old enjoys playing this game with her little sister too as do I. Highly recommend!

  4. Natasha

    Fun game!
Big hit here, great as addition/subtraction practice for early school ages, and great as an introduction for younger kids. Introduces evens/odds and positive/negative numbers too. Easy to play, and lots of fun.

    Fabulous Game
I bought this for my 4 year old’s birthday as she is interested in numbers and starting school in Sept. She absolutely loves it and begs me to play ‘just one more game’, I always put my foot down after the 4th go!We have had it 1 week and play almost every day, but already I have noticed that she is faster at calculating the answers and using her fingers to count on less often. The game features shortcuts, the Endless Loop and other special squares that can propell you forward (or backwards) depending on whether you roll a +/- which keeps things interesting as even if she is very far behind me on the gameboard, she knows that there is still a good chance to win because of these special squares so she doesn’t give up.Excellent game design, good quality board and counters – a great purchase.

  6. Lanella

Great for young kids or kids with special needs
This board game is simple but effective. It is great for young kids learning to add and subtract. I use it with my son with special needs. It is quite a short game so I am able to hold their interest in playing and it does what it is supposed to do. Playing regularly has made a great difference is his ability to play and his desire to play. Now that he understands the concept of addition and subtraction he wants to play. So I can now attempt to transfer some of these skills to other board games. It helps with turn taking and socialization. Great game

  7. Tommie Jean Potts

My 4 year old loves it!!
I read a ton of great reviews about this game and it did not disappoint. It is not only educational but also fun!! On Christmas Day we played no less than 10 times and he has pulled it out every day since to play.

    Brilliantly game
Great for number knowledge. Wished I’d found this when I taught in EYFS and Ks1

  12. Xenia T.

My 4 year old loves this game! Wants to play it every day. I got it for him once he knew how to count to 12 and how to get to correct answer using fingers when adding 2 very small numbers.

  13. Calgary Shopper

I love this game! It *actually* is fun to play as a family with kids that range in ages. I have a 5 and 9 year old, and Grandma plays with us sometimes too. It’s great to help little ones learn arithmetic but we’ll likely play this for years even once the math’s been learned. Every single component of the game is built to last so that won’t be a problem. It’s very well thought out – far more than most games. How can it be so different than any other “roll the die and move that number of spaces” board game? There’s a few factors. The plus/minus die makes it easy to roll anything from 0 to 12 so anyone can surge ahead, then lose their lead —it’s a nail biter. I suppose the unpredictability is true of Snakes and Ladders but that game can be frustrating for kids, and long (after all it is an ancient game meant to teach people how to handle the wild ups and downs in life – a bit heavy somedays).Sum Swamp is well designed not to be too easy, but not frustrating either so the game makers really considered the probability of different outcomes throughout the game. The selection of special action spots to land on is effective and fun. The “endless loop” works very well and like other reviewers we find it really makes the game. You can indeed get stuck in the loop but there are enough ways to get out that you’re unlikely to get frustrated (land on the 5 and you’re guaranteed to hit the exit on your next turn. Land on the 3 and it’s a 50/50 chance). It was fun to watch my 9 year old discover how well planned the loop is —my kindergartener hasn’t noticed and doesn’t care. The game moves fast and doesn’t take too long (important for kids with short attention spans), but it’s long enough to get interesting. We usually play it a few times in a row. Sometimes more if we have the time.I have a 5 and 9 year old and I really appreciate having a game they can both enjoy -let alone me too! The game pieces are cute and have a pleasant, soft-rubbery texture that makes them enjoyable to handle. Again, all physical components of the game are high quality and built to last. Love, love, LOVE it!
