Not sold on this style of armband
I like these discs from an environmental perspective, given they are made of EVA foam rather than plastic like traditional armbands for children. There’s also no risk of them puncturing, so you’d expect them to last longer.Another feature I liked is that they can be used in combination to offer additional floatation support for nervous swimmers and then gradually reduced as your child’s confidence in the water increases.However, I can’t help but feel they are quite cumbersome. One of the pros of traditional blow-up armbands is that they are much more compact when not in use, thereby saving valuable space if you’re packing them for a holiday. They also look a bit ridiculous on my 2-year-old because they are so oversized.Something else I’ve noticed, which is a bit confusing, is that the product page says these are for 2-6-year-olds, but elsewhere they are for 3-4-year-olds. Although my 2-year-old can wear them, so far, he hasn’t wanted to for more than just a few seconds, and I’m not sure if this is a comfort issue or whether it’s just that he isn’t used to them, given he hasn’t worn armbands before. As a result, we’ve been unable to test the functionality in a swimming pool, but I do not doubt that they would perform as expected in the water.I’m not sold on this armband style and am more likely to stick with the traditional inflatable plastic type.
