Michigan Scores 2026 Verbal From Hong Kong’s Gilaine Ma
NEW COMMIT: The University of Michigan has received its first verbal commitment for Fall 2026 from Hong Kong’s Gilaine Ma, who will arrive in Ann Arbor as a member of the Wolverines’ Class of 2030.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career in the university of Michigan. I would like to thank my family, DGS, all the coaches, friends and teammates for supporting me on this journey.And also millions thank to Coach Bryon and coach Matt for giving me this opportunity. Can’t wait to be Michigan wolverine! Go Blue!”
Ma was a member of Hong Kong’s World Championship team in 2024. In Doha, she raced on the 4x200m free relay and in the 400m free.
She swims for Diocesan Girls’ School in Hong Kong. She most recently earned a personal best in the 1500m free at the Hong Kong Age Group Championships in late September.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 50m free – 25.81
- 100m free – 55.96
- 200m free – 2:01.46
- 400m free – 4:17.22
- 800m free – 9:06.87
- 100m fly – 1:04.43
Last year, the Wolverines finished third at the 2024 Big Ten Championships. They then went on to place 12th at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
