Idiomatic Back at No. 3 in NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll

Idiomatic Back at No. 3 in NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll

After narrow losses in a pair of grade 1s at Saratoga Race Course this summer, champion Idiomatic  proved that she is still the class of the distaff division with a scintillating 6 1/2-length victory in the $600,000 Spinster Stakes (G1) at Keeneland Oct. 6.

The domination of her rivals earned her back the favor of the national media who vote on the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s Top Thoroughbred Poll as they rewarded her with a third-place ranking.

The Eclipse champion older dirt female of 2023 started the year ranked near the top of the leaderboard. However, after her second defeat, this time at the hooves of Raging Sea  in the Aug. 23 Personal Ensign Stakes (G1), she began to sink down the top 10. Ranked seventh leading into the Spinster, she reminded everyone of how talented she is with her most impressive victory yet this season.

The Juddmonte homebred daughter of Curlin   is 3-2-0 from five starts this year with two grade 1 victories for earnings of $1,487,350.

She was not the only victor from Keeneland’s Fall Stars Weekend to appear on the leaderboard this week as Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes (G1T) winner Carl Spackler  appeared in eighth place. E Five Racing Thoroughbreds’ 4-year-old son of Lope de Vega  is 4-for-5 with two grade 1 wins in 2024 for earnings of $1,136,225.
