Hill ‘n’ Dale Announces ’25 Stud Fees; Curlin Leads Way

Two-time Horse of the Year Curlin  , one of today’s preeminent sires, leads the Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa stallion roster with a fee of $225,000.

The sire of three Eclipse Award winners last year, he has three grade 1 winners and five grade 1 performers in 2024. He leads all sires with eight Breeders’ Cup wins, and that accomplishment will be celebrated in the November issue of BloodHorse Magazine

The $225,000 fee for 2025 is down from the $250,000 fee for the 2024 season and matches his 2023 fee.

Curlin’s champion son Good Magic   also stands at Hill ‘n’ Dale, and his fee remains unchanged at $125,000. Good Magic has three grade 1 winners in 2024, including Belmont (G1) and Haskell (G1) winner Dornoch  , Good Magic’s second classic winner from his first two crops. His other two grade 1 winners this year are Pacific Classic winner Mixto  and Arkansas Derby winner Muth , a $2 million purchase as a juvenile.

Charlatan  ‘s fee remains the same as well despite a stellar market reception at both Fasig-Tipton’s The Saratoga Sale as well as the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. His 89 yearlings averaged more than $270,000, led by a $1.5 million Fasig-Tipton yearling—the highest price paid for a yearling by a freshman sire this year.

Violence  ‘s fee was adjusted to $30,000 notwithstanding the fact that his current runners include grade 1 winner Mullikin  and grade 2 winner Newgrange . Army Mule  ‘s fee is $20,000. The sire of Federal Judge , recent Phoenix Stakes (G2) winner at Keeneland, Army Mule boasts 10% stakes winners to starters lifetime.

New to the roster this year is grade 1 winner Arabian Knight  , a $2.3 million purchase at 2 whose crowning achievement came in the $1 million Pacific Classic as a 3-year-old against older horses. His inaugural fee is $30,000.
