I’m a golfer and a parent. There’s not much I enjoy more than a well-struck golf shot or a good round of golf. Some things I do enjoy more: the look on my son’s face after his well-struck golf shot or a round of golf with my kids. Introducing your kids to golf and developing your junior golfer is one of the many great joys of this game. Part of that introduction is the equipment and what clubs you hand your aspiring young golfer can be uber-critical to their development.
Cutting down old clubs can seem like a good way to save a buck or two but resist that urge. They’re going to be too heavy and will very likely result in some bad habits creeping in to your fledgling golfer’s swing. Performance
I suppose now is a good time to remind you, the reader, that our testers here are ages six. eight, nine and 10 years old. The primary goal at this age is to help the little guy or gal hit more solid shots, have more fun as a result and, ideally, fall in love with this great game. The point being that if you’re looking for launch monitor data, Strokes Gained numbers or stories of falling handicaps, you’re probably reading the wrong article. Maximizing these kids’ enjoyment of the game is the sole measure of success here and enjoy golf they did.
“I really like the irons and feel they are easier to hit than my old set of Nitros. I definitely hit the ball further and have an easier time trying to get the ball in the air….Other than the driver the clubs are shorter than my old set; that just goes to show you the right size of clubs makes a big difference” — Addison
“Max struck both the 7-iron and 9-iron significantly better than his old set’s irons….Both clubs launched higher and landed softer than his old iron. Likes
The kids really liked the looks of their new clubs. All Kids Golf Clubs takes pride in offering high-quality golf clubs and the Lynx Ai sets they provided our testers were certainly that.
In addition, several of our young testers were very excited to get a new “real” driver.
“The first club I grabbed was my driver and what I loved the most was it has the same pattern (my Dad said carbon fiber) that my Dad has on his driver. This driver is longer than my old one but I can swing it faster already so I know I can hit bombs with it.” – Liam

The driver did turn out to be a bit of a sticking point for a few of our testers, however.
Dislikes
Their new drivers were big and cool but maybe a little intimidating for some of our young golfers.
“On the course, I couldn’t convince Max to hit the driver. It was just too big for him, being at the bottom end of the height range for this set,” – elight
“The only real bad here is the driver. It is probably not so much the driver itself, I just can’t hit it very well. It just seems harder for me to swing than the other clubs. It seems heavy to me, and my Dad thinks its just too long for me right now,” – Addison
It should be noted that other testers who were not on the bottom end of the recommended height range got along well with their drivers. Grant, with a 400 cc Lynx Ai driver for kids from 57-60 inches in height, gained distance and started hitting drives of more than 200 yards.
The bag also left a bit to be desired with some testers.
“I did however have an issue with the bag. I had my Dad adjust the straps multiple times but every time he did the clubs would weight down and start sliding out of the bag. I finally made him carry it for me.” – Addison
Conclusion
Golf is a rewarding and enjoyable sport but it’s certainly a challenging one, too. When introducing a youngster to the game, don’t make it even more challenging due to ill-fitting equipment.
