Starting Aug. 31, Pacific Classic Day, first post for all racing days but Fridays will shift from the usual 2 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. PT at Del Mar. The adjustment is to allow for the earlier sunset toward the end of the track’s summer season.
So for the remaining Thursday, Saturday, Sunday (and Labor Day Monday) cards at the meet through Sept. 8, the 1:30 post will be in effect. The remaining Friday cards will stay at 3 p.m.
Del Mar’s racing office is projecting 11-race cards for the upcoming Saturday and Sunday, with the same for its closing weekend. It sees a 10-race card for Monday, Labor Day, Sept. 2, and the usual eight-race cards for the remaining Thursday and Friday.
