Indiana Lands Huge 2026 Verbal From Junior Pan-Pacs Champion Kayla Han
NEW COMMIT: One of the top recruits in the Class of 2026, Kayla Han has announced her verbal commitment to Indiana University. She will join the Hoosiers’ Class of 2030.
She currently holds the top times in her class in the 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free and 400 IM.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so grateful and excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my goals at Indiana University! Thank you to my parents, Coach Shipherd, and my Armada family for their unwavering support. Thank you to Coach Looze for giving me the opportunity to become a part of the IU tradition. GO HOOSIERS”
Han won the 800-meter freestyle at the 2024 Junior Pan Pac Championships last month, where she also placed 10th in the 200 free. She earned silver in the 200 backstroke at Junior Pan Pacs in 2022.
She placed fourth in the 400m free at Olympic Trials. Last December, she won the 500 free, mile and 400 IM at Juniors East.
A versatile swimmer, Han trained with Carmel Swim Club before returning to California to train with La Mirada Armada. She is expected to have an immediate impact in the Big Ten Conference.
Her best times include:
- 100 freestyle – 50.54
- 200 freestyle – 1:47.00
- 500 freestyle – 4:38.12
- 1000 freestyle – 9:40.05
- 1650 freestyle – 16:00.74
